ACSC’s Barry Rudd Retires!

Long time ACSC employee, Barry Rudd, recently retired. ACSC hosted a party for Barry at our office and shop facility in Wallace, NC on Friday, June 16th 2017.

Barry is an Eagle Scout from Burlington, NC. He attained a Bachelor’s of Science in Conservation from the School of Agriculture and Life Sciences at N.C. State University in December 1974, where he was also a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Barry worked at a private air emissions testing company in Raleigh, NC for 23 years before moving to  Wilmington, NC in 1998 where he owned a construction debris removal and recycling business for 11 years.

Barry started at ACSC in September 2011. Barry was a Field Foreman, Shop Manager and spent much of his time using as a CDL driver as well. He enjoys boating of many types and most activities related to the water, fresh or salt. His wife of 24 years is Susan, and they have a 20 year old son named Bradner.

Barry plans to do a lot of traveling in the U.S. and abroad while in retirement. Some of Barry’s favorite memories from working for ACSC are obtaining his Commercial Driver’s License, helping coworkers obtain their CDLs, working with people from many different backgrounds with many different talents, skill levels, and capabilities, watching the new young employees learn and grow professionally, the camaraderie developed between the coworkers, and working with the staff of three ladies that ran the office.

Congrats to Barry on his retirement! ACSC will miss you and wish you well!

A.C. Schultes of Carolina Attends ACE 2017 with Other Regional A.C. Schultes Offices!

ACSC recently attended the AWWA’s Annual Conference & Expo (ACE) at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA  June 12th – 14th, 2017! The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is an international, nonprofit, scientific and educational society dedicated to providing total water solutions assuring the effective management of water. Founded in 1881, the Association is the largest organization of water supply professionals in the world.

ACE is an annual event that features networking events for 11,000+ water industry professionals, expositions with thousands of vendors, workshops and seminars for operators and managers alike, national competitions including Pipe Tapping (Congratulations to the 2017 winners, Palm Coast Water Buoys, City of Palm Coast, Florida), AWWA Tap Water Taste Test (Congratulations to the 2017 Taste Test Winner, City of Greeley, Colorado), and more!

ACSC was joined by personnel from other A.C. Schultes offices, including New Jersey and Maryland. It was a pleasure to have dinner with some of our South Carolina customers as well as business partners, Singer Valve.

ACSC employee, Collin McClearn, 23 year old father from Hampstead, NC, was paralyzed in an auto accident when the other driver blew through a stop sign and hit his truck causing him to turn over and become trapped for almost an hour. This benefit is to help raise money for the family to cover expenses incurred as a direct result of the injuries caused from this life changing accident.

Star News Covers ACSC’ Employee, Collin McClearn’s, Road to Recovery in Hampstead, NC.

 

ACSC employee, Collin McClearn, is adjusting to his new life in Hampstead, NC. Collin was tragically injured in February 2017 and has completed six weeks of rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, a private hospital that specializes in rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injuries. The local Wilmington newspaper, Star News, covered Collin’s story (link below).

Collin’s fiance, Briana, created a GoFundMe page following the crash to assist with medical costs. A fundraising event is being planned on July 15 at Capt’n Bills Backyard Grill & Volleyball Facility in Wilmington, NC.
